What are portable air conditioners?

Installing a portable air conditioners is a perfectly valid solution if you do not want to do work, or want to use it in different rooms. We are going to explain everything you need to know to buy one of this equipment.

Summer is running its course and it seems that it will last a long time, and it is taking longer to get cold, something that makes the investment in an air conditioner amortizable for a longer time. Is it worth buying one? What are your possibilities? We are going to see everything you must take into account when buying a portable air conditioner.

Best Appliance to cool the room without going out of budget

Logically, the ideal solution would be to install a conventional air conditioner, but it has many drawbacks. They cost a lot of money, you have to pay for the installation separately, and you have to do work. Literally a hole in the wall to take the tube out into the street, as well as holes and fittings to hang it on the ceiling and carry the current there.

Perhaps the purchase and installation are too expensive for you, or you live in a rental house and the landlord does not let you do the work air conditioners. Or maybe you want to use the air in different rooms, depending on the day or other circumstances. In all these cases, a portable model may be sufficient in some specific cases, but not all.

The portable air conditioner is a device that has wheels and can be moved. It has an internal compressor (the condenser) that absorbs the air in the room and cools it down. They tend to be cheaper than fixed units (split) and are becoming more compact, so they do not require much space and can be considered as the Best AC in India. However, since the compressor is indoors, they can be a little noisy.

How a portable air conditioner works

Portable air conditioning units work in a similar way to a heat pump, but with the difference that they concentrate the indoor and outdoor units in the same device. What they do is take the hot air from the environment from a grille located at the back of the equipment, cool it and push it to the outside. At the same time, the condenser indoor unit takes the air -also from the rear grille-, heats it and sends it outside through a tube connected to a window. Portable air conditioners work the same as conventional ones. They tend to be a little less powerful because they are smaller, but the operation is the same: they generate cold air at the cost of extracting hot air from the room. The difference is that instead of pulling the hot air tube out of a hole in the wall, it is pulled out the window. This has obvious advantages (ease of use, portability), but also drawbacks, which we have to minimize. The maintenance required by this equipment is very simple. The filters only need to be cleaned regularly and avoid moisture build-up that results from condensation by cooling the air.
